Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. Her family was raised within an multiethnic family. Jacqueline's father Elroy is Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. Jacqueline is the youngest of two sisters and one older brother. In the 80s, her parents emigrated to Bahrain in protest against the civil war over Sri Lanka. This is why she was born and raised in Bahrain. In Australia, she studied Media and Communications at University of Sydney after completing her studies in Bahrain. The love of different cultures and languages inspired her to enroll in the Berlitz language school where she improved her French and Arabic in addition to learning Spanish. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006. She also competed as Miss Universe 2006 also. In the wake of being crowned Miss Sri Lanka in 2006, Padukone began working on television. She was the host of the program Lanka Business Report which focused on business in Sri Lanka. Padukone was the daughter of badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew as a child in Bangalore and came from Copenhagen. As a teenager, she competed at national-level badminton competitions, but quit playing and went on to become a fashion designer. Padukone was born in Mangalore, Indian. The language she speaks is Konkani is her origin. Her lineage is from Padukone village located in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District in the State of Karnataka, India. Prakash Padukone is her father and was a badminton player with international recognition. Her mother works as an agent for travel.
